Craps looks like the most complicated game in the casino and contains one of the simplest good bets in it. The pass line is 1.41%. Don't pass is 1.36%. Both are among the cheapest wagers available anywhere.
Everything else on the layout is worse, and some of it is dramatically worse. The proposition bets in the middle of the table — any seven, hardways, the horn — run from 9% to 16.67%. They are placed physically in the centre so the stickman can reach them, and they are priced for people who want action rather than value.
Taking odds behind the pass line is the one bet in the building with no house edge at all. It does not reduce the edge on the original bet, but it dilutes the combined figure: pass line with double odds works out around 0.6% across the total amount at risk.
