Blackjack is the cheapest hour on any casino floor, online or otherwise, and it is not close. Played correctly against a decent rule set, the house keeps about half a percent of what you put through it.
The catch is the phrase "played correctly". The half-percent figure assumes basic strategy on every hand — the mathematically correct decision for your two cards against the dealer's upcard, every time, with no hunches. Play by instinct instead and the edge drifts to somewhere between 1.5% and 2.5%, which is three to five times the cost for exactly the same time at the table.
The second catch is the pay table. A blackjack that pays 6:5 instead of 3:2 adds roughly 1.4% to the house edge on its own — more than the entire edge of the good version of the game. It is the single most expensive rule change in the casino and it is printed on the felt.
