About Chip Verdict

Chip Verdict is for people who want to understand what they’re spending their money on.

That might be a poker course, an online casino or a lottery ticket. It could be a prediction market where the percentage on screen tells you less than you first think. We want to answer the questions that come up when you look beyond the sales page.

We cover poker, online casinos, sports and esports betting, prediction markets, and lotteries and draws. Europe is our main focus, but we also cover US subjects where they belong.

Why we’re building it

We want to build a useful publication and a business. Both are part of the reason Chip Verdict exists.

But working on a gambling website also means thinking seriously about what it encourages people to do. A page can explain a product accurately and still push someone towards spending money they would have been better off keeping.

We want our coverage to help you make that decision for yourself. Sometimes that means explaining why a course is worth considering. Sometimes it means pointing out a cost, a restriction or a good reason to leave something alone.

You shouldn’t have to sign up or buy anything for the article to have been useful.

Gambling can cause real harm

Gambling can be enjoyable. It can also become a serious problem, with consequences well beyond the money lost.

Knowing the odds does not make someone immune to addiction. A licensed operator does not make gambling harmless. And reading a guide cannot guarantee that you will stay in control.

We don’t want to hide that behind a small warning at the bottom of a page while the rest of the site tells you to keep playing. Our coverage should leave room for the decision not to gamble at all.

If gambling is causing problems for you, finding another site or a different game may not be the answer. Our responsible gambling page points towards support and ways to restrict access.

How AI helps make the site

AI plays a substantial part in Chip Verdict. We use it to help research subjects, draft and edit articles, and build the website itself.

It can be useful for working through source material and making a difficult explanation easier to follow. It can also misunderstand something or produce a confident answer that is wrong. Using AI does not remove the need to check the work.

We remain responsible for what appears here. AI assistance is not evidence that someone has personally used a platform, played a game or completed a course. We should never present invented experience as a reason to trust a review.

How we’ll choose partners

Affiliate partnerships are part of our plans. That means we may earn money when a reader follows a commercial link and takes a qualifying action.

There is a conflict of interest in that arrangement. We don’t think calling ourselves independent makes it disappear.

For gambling operators, a current licence covering the market we’re referring readers from will be a minimum requirement. It won’t be enough on its own. We’ll also look at withdrawal conditions, how understandable the terms are, and whether player-protection tools are straightforward to find and use. Credible concerns about how customers are treated need attention too.

The terms of the affiliate deal matter as well. We need to consider what we’re being paid to encourage, rather than judging a partnership only by the commission.

We’ll make commercial relationships clear where they matter. A partnership must leave us free to criticise the company and stop recommending it. If we can’t explain a drawback honestly without putting the agreement at risk, it is the wrong agreement for this site.

None of this lets us guarantee that a company will never let its customers down. It gives us a standard to work against, including a reason to turn down a deal.

Keeping the information useful

Prices change. So do fees, product features and rules. We cannot monitor every detail on every page all day, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Our aim is to check changeable information before publication, revisit it as needed, and correct errors we identify. Where a checking date matters, we should make it clear. An older article should not look freshly verified just because someone changed a sentence.

If you spot something wrong, please tell us. We would rather correct a page than leave a reader with the wrong answer.

Chip Verdict needs to earn its place by being useful. That should still be true if you never click an affiliate link.
